Rain
Initially inspired by persistent Washington rain.
Head back, eyes focused up high.
Clouds release what they can't restrain.
Water falling from the sky,
Mankind calls it rain.
It can descend like a torrent.
Or it can come sprinkled slow.
Either way, to cover little birds flit.
As the downpour starts to grow.
Drop after drop down to the ground.
In no time puddles start to form.
Rain falling all around makes a certain sound.
As if ants were marching in a swarm.
The rain hydrates the soil and grass.
Flowers, bushes, and the trees.
Along with the sun, it makes them last.
Supplying air so humans breath with the breeze.
Water falling from the sky.
As humans live out their corrupt lives.
With nature they like to vie.
Until their fates cut deep like knives.
Rain rain go away that's what humans like to say.
But soon the sky will turn gray and black.
And mankind will be filled with dismay.
It's too late now, the floods are back.
